inspect_or_search
Searches and describes the matches in one step.
Works in read modeTool sets: query · meta · full
You might ask
“Show me the tables about card payments and their columns.”
Your assistant may call inspect_or_search to answer.
How it works
- Runs the same search as
search_schema, then attaches columns, keys and row estimates for the top matches (3 by default). - Saves a round trip when the assistant would otherwise call
search_schemaand thendescribe_objecton each hit.
Parameters
querystringrequired- Natural-language or keyword search, e.g. "cash card".
include_columnsboolean- Include per-column definitions in each match. Default true.
limit_objectsnumber- Maximum matching objects to return. Default 3.
What your assistant reads
The description nexql-mcp sends with the tool. It's how the assistant decides when to use it.
Composite schema discovery: search by keywords and return matching objects with columns, keys, and row estimates in one call — replaces search_schema → describe_object chains.
